My school department 2 years ago installed 4 ERV ' S units ,Since the installation we have had problem when it is humid/raining outside .There is a Dirty Sock Smell through out buidling ? Has any one had simliar problems or filmailer with this ?
In Austin Tx we had a similar problem, we found that the underside of the Desiccant Wheel had mold/mildew most likely from being stored outside prior to purchasing. We did not detect this during the installation as we did not have to disassemble the unit for installation. After a thorough cleaning we no longer had smell issues. We found that the Heat Exchange desiccant wheel or the Cross Flow exchangers require regular cleaning or you will have smells.
