While celebrating it’s Sesquicentennial anniversary, the Los Nietos School District (the oldest District in California operating since August 12, 1861) recently installed new LED lighting in a classroom at their Ada Nelson Elementary School. This demonstration classroom will help guide the way towards reducing the Districts ever-increasing utility costs for the next 150 years. The District invited Featherstone, Inc. to retrofit one of their portable classrooms with their linear LED lighting products. This test will allow the District time to properly evaluate the use of LED technology in a classroom setting by giving them a chance to not only experience the quality of light from the LEDs, but to also accumulate operational data to help determine the overall savings potential for implementation at their other schools. Once installed, the energy savings were immediate. And by utilizing the schools existing overhead lighting fixtures for the LED replacement tubes, it was the quickest, simplest and least disruptive means of achieving the greatest amount energy savings over the shortest period of time.
