First impressions - what a great site!! Just saw this mentioned in one of a multitude of emails and it peaked my interest. I am in Branford, CT and currently working in National Accounts Management for Stanley Convergent Security Services - a full service security installation, monitoring, servicing Company providing and installing from the very simple burglar alarm system to the very complex ip network based twic/bio-identity integrated with video proprietary manned monitoring system. We also have groups within the company that provide mechanical locking door hardware, door systems and of course, the long heralded Stanley tools group. Having spent the better part of 31 years in the physical security space and being a proponent of "best applications", I hope to learn more here from those that have spent their careers in facilities management or from those that are just starting in their careers and seeing things from a totally different perspective!! I also freely share knowledge or suggestions garnered from some of my experiences and look to network here as a valuable in site into how the products and services our company provides can be applied to provide for the best return on investment for those that care to implement them. Greetings to all,
I think this site provides a great opportunity to learn and make new connections. This can be so helpful when looking for answers from others who have experience. Currently, I manage five office buildings, (some include retail space), and several apartments in Southwestern Colorado. Two of our buildings are certified LEED Silver.
I've also worked for a large school district in the mid-west where we were fortunate enough to have developed a project that allowed the high school to be heated by gas (methane) from a nearby landfill. We had to put in a connecting pipleine, retrofit the boilers, yet allow for backup from the original natural gas suypply in the event the methane became unstable. There were lots of regulations of course, but it was an awesome project.
Thanks Eric. I own Electro Painters, we are an on-site electrostatic painting company. We specialize in commercial and industrial refinishing. Storefront, elevators, machinery, railing, fencing etc. We apply a "factory like" finish on any metal surface with no risk of overspray to surrounding environment. We cover the entire Southeast from Virginia south and to the Mississippi out of our offices in Charlotte NC and Atlanta GA.
I held elected office for about a decade so I can also work well within the governmental sector as well.

I was a facilities and telecom manager for over 15 years, and now I use that experience to offer a client-side perspective to vendors. I've helped my clients pull together winning bid response packages, improve their marketing and sales literature, and write focused articles and white papers that speak directly to the needs and challenges of today's FM.
FacilitiesNet has been a terrific resource for me both as an FM consultant in evaluating products and services, and as a writer when conducting research for articles and white papers.
Thanks for providing a place to share and learn information.

Hi all, I'm CSA or Mark Thompson, I'll answer to both.
I am a flooring consultant with Commercial Sales Associates. We can help you find carpet in roll or tile form, porcelain tile, or a bran new product called FREE LAY carpet.
This has to be seen, it uses a quick dry polymer to adhere the carpet directly to the floor! No glue, no tack strip, and the best part, you can pull it up by hand vertically whenever you want! It will not move horizontally!
Call me if you're interested in knowing more.

Wow a church big enough for a Facilities Director. Sounds like an idea for part-time work when I retire. Had to fish around the website to find Flowery Branch. I used to live in Lilburn in early 70's, went to Lanier frequently. How's the water level by now?
OOps, didn't understand format, thought prior msg was private, to a gentleman in GA, one of the states I lived in. OK, public message:
After long career in building design, construction, and maintenance with Western Electric / AT&T Technologies / Lucent I was finally laid off like almost everyone else. Now Director of Maintenance, Engineering & Transportation at New Hampshire Hospital. The NH state psychiatric hospital. Way more maintenance than engineering, in aging buildings, in a state system that has always been underfunded, now worse than ever in this economy. What a contrast with the mad money days with Lucent in the late 90's.
Will go post a question about a sprinkler problem we're having currently.
Just saw a name of somebody I may know, but I'm not sure how to communicate privately. I think I like this forum.
Don ***, Concord NH
Don you need some corrosion inhibitor in the sprinker. Has to be injected with a bleed on the system to get dispersion. These systems are stagnant and should also be treated with a biocide. Nobody is doing this and the time bomb of failures is ticking. It may not be too late if someone is smart and takes actions soon. I've had discussions with sprinkler manufacturing companies and code officials and they admit that this issue is totally overlooked. If money is an issue you may want to look at our Zero Blowdown Technology on your cooling system. This LEED EB method with patent pending status on corrosion protection will save millions of gallons of water and related costs. There is an upfront cost to set up the program which has a relatively fast payback depending on water and sewer charges. Contact wgreen5536@aol.com if you want additional assistance.
Hello, my name is Tony Williams. I currently work for a large shipping company as a facilities supervisor. I had been in manufacturing, mostly computers, from 1972 to 1997. I have been in various positions, all of which either interacted with building maintenance or directly related to building/facilities maintenance.
I found this site last year and am very happy to see so many people offer their suggestions to questions. I only recently felt comfortable enough to post a reply to hopefully help out. One thing that I have noticed is that their is no spamming. This is great and a boon for our community.
I am looking forward to attending the NFMT this year in Las Vegas, where I live, and hope to meet some of you there.
Nice to see another Coast Guardsman doing well!
