Hello ,
I am looking to purchase utility carts to get from building to building for everyday maint. issues. We are removing some of our older trucks and going to replace with carts. but want to get a feel of what other people use.
Does anyone here use utility type carts , gas or electric ? what make / model ? I am not looking for any off roading type.
Jeff
Hello!
We use several different style carts here at our casino complex. Kawasaki Mules are the quickest to get from point A-B. They come in both gas and diesel models but they are pricey. We also have a Turf Cruiser (gas) which is a less expensive and it comes with an on-board generator for power tools which we use quite often. Price on this model was moderate. We also use several brands of Golf carts addapted with small dump boxes but battery maintenance is a burden and they need to be kept on charge when not in use. All of our carts are fitted with turf suited tires so we dont leave a mess in the landscaped areas.
Jeff,
We use a Club Car Utility cart with a dump box and occupant cab. It is electric and gets around very well on snow and ice. Upgrade to turf tires, heavy duty batteries, and a hi voltage system. It is also equipped with a hitch for towing.
We have had no break downs or mantenence issues with it in over 4 years.

Thanks Rich,
Where do you house your utility carts in the winter ??
We use the Gator by John Deere. We have had it for over 5 years and been very happy with it. We plow sidewalks with it in winter and use it daily for a large variety of chores. Maintenance has been acceptable with it.

I have a small insulated garage in the end of a pole building on our campus. It has a 10ft roll-up door,a man door,lights,120v&460v power. I heat it by steam to 40-45 degrees in the winter to melt snow and ice. The battery charger is on a timer as well as the exhaust fan. I store the snow blowers, lawn tractor, salt spreader, ice melt, shovels ect. in there year around. The space is about 14' W x 22'L X 14'H.
Heres a couple of good links for you:

Hi Jeff,
We are using a couple of John Deere Gators/TE. These are electric utility carts designed for the Golf.Turf industry. They can be fitted with full cabs and the short dump beds can be converted to utility boxes. They can transport two maintenance personnel and their tools. Ours were purchased from Northwest Outdoor Equipment of Clackamas, Oregon. They have been a great tool for us.
