If you would have told me a few years ago that I would be planning a conference for facility managers, I would have said you were nuts. My family and friends still can’t believe I can talk about HVAC or IAQ (although not in too much detail).
Although I am not a facility manager, it seems to be a trend that many professionals do not set out to work in this industry. Somewhere along the way you might have fallen into the role of facility management. I’ve heard countless stories about how someone was hired to do “x” and then slowly over time the job transformed into facilities management, everything from a renovation needed a project manager to there was an emergency and I took care of it.
That is why these kinds of conferences are so important, many people do not have a degree in facility manager, never took an official course or apprenticeship.
